Young Musician of the Year 2006
 
   

There were over 200 entries for this exciting new competition organised by Cambridge Youth Music. The competition was open to instrumentalists and singers aged 10 to18 years, who live or attend schools in Cambridgeshire. The winner, saxophonist Ellie McMurray, was awarded a prize of £250 and invited to perform at a public concert with an orchestra at West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge. She and other finalists have since been offered a number of performing opportunities, including a concert in the Cambridge Musical Festival in November 2006.

The competition will be held every two years. Preliminary details of the 2008 event can be found here.
